For the past two years instead of making new year’s resolutions, which by the end of the first quarter I have not kept, I instead compile my vision board for the new year and choose a word that will be my reminder or cue of my professional and personal goals.
My focus word for 2018 was Enough. 2018 brought with it so many changes on the business and home front. So many new beginnings.
My husband and I both had new business ventures. I co-founded the Style Collective with my partner Lizette. My husband started a new job as a partner of a law firm in Johannesburg after practicing in Cape Town for 15 years.
We moved to a new city and province and add to that the birth of our second son Jude on 9 December 2018.
2018 taught me that I am enough.
What a Year of rediscovery and personal growth. Overcoming self-doubt and talking myself out of opportunities. I am enough!
I am first and foremost a wife and a mother and with all the new beginnings that awaits my family this year I have chosen THRIVE as my and our word for 2019.
Regardless of our new environment, area code, jobs, new school, we will thrive and flourish.
God’s word in Proverbs 23:7 says” as someone thinks within himself, so he is”
What you choose to see and believe determines your reality.
Do you have a word that will define your year? I would love to hear about it and the reason you chose your specific word.

Wishing you and yours a happy 2019. May it be a year filled with happiness and prosperity.
